As of July 31st, only 104 new building permits had been issued since the January.

In August alone, the Palisades had 75 new building permits issued. See Map of Permits Here.

The jump from 44 to 75 issued permits represents a 70% increase month over month. And we jumped from 58 to 122 permit applications in August, a 110% increase.

So as of August 31st, we have had a total of 179 new home building permits issued since the fire. (Excluding permits originating pre-fire)

The average time for permits to be issued has increased (slower) month over month from 63 in July to 77 days in August.

Here are the new permit wait times:

For “New Building” permits issued (since Fire) the weighted average time was 68 days

Let’s break them down by month.  The below numbers reflect permits issued in said month, and how long they took to be issued. This is only for “New Building” permits only, not swimming pools, demo, etc.  

Mar – 31 days (2 permits)

April – 46 days (5 permits)

May – 56 days (24 permits)

June – 71 days (29 permits)

July – 63 days (39 permits)

August – 77 days (75 permits)

  1. Apparently the numbers show ALL permits – not just new buildings (or rebuild), but additions, modifications, And certainly not all fire related – many in the Riviera are “regular” projects. No offense, but these numbers are misleading.
